Cheap Gothic Soap Opera, Part 39

Elizabeth was groggy...
she slowly started opening her eyes, and then she started hearing voices:

"she's...devinitly...un...of em 'Hooker's girls"
...."weell....weell.... welll leat me tell ye this...
a dyme a day...."
"what a balls...
in bracks und...
do'in ere?"
...[unintelligible rabble]...
"well...you...knew hiw it gows 'round ere... When Lucy Crawford...
...her sheep... in the Archer's fyr...
I thought.... OWE ME GOD! THE RING OF ZORGOTH!"

Then she opened her eyes all the way and got up with a start. There were a bunch of people in peasants' 19th century clothing standing around her, and all of them were looking dumb-founded at the ring on her finger. The funny thing was that her finger was severed, lying on the ground, and crawling away with the ring.
