An interesting and little known fact of the post-Dagon era is that Alexander Hamilton was not in fact an agent of Cthulhu, but of Yog-Sothóth, the one between the spheres. Hamilton knew that only through a highly centralized government could he gather the catastrophic number of victims for the sacrificial display that would open a rift, letting in Yög-Sôthõth and destroying the minds of men.

But civic virtue was also important to him, and he loathed the petty low classes even since a peasant mistook his best friend for a mangrove tree and chopped him down to harvest the precious healing oils. But Hamilton's plans were not generally accepted by all. Although Hamilton had bitten onto Adam's neck and stayed there throughout his administration, thereby controlling the second president, some of Adam's cabinet members were distrustful of the parasite (this was strange for the time, since parasites of all kinds were thought to have healing properties on account of their blood-sucking, and the wealthy regularly bathed in baths of ticks and mosquitoes in order to remove blood. Blood letting by incisions was discovered only in the 19th century, when it was found that a flesh wound released blood and not merely a thick, reddish liquid).

These cabinet members and lawyers included Thomas Jefferson, or Tom, Leader of the Resistance.
